Gaetano
Dinardi
December 23, 1931 – October 14, 2023
Gaetano "Mr. D." DiNardi, a 50 year resident of New York State, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. He was 91 years old, just two months away from his 92nd birthday.
Gaetano was born on December 23rd, 1931 in Sarno, Italy. He married Luisa Annunziata in November, 1958 in the Bronx, New York. He is the son of the late Domenico and Giovanna DiNardi.
Gaetano and his adoring wife Luisa were married for a remarkable 57 years — they built a new life together in America after emigrating from Italy, paving the way for their only son Dominic, and four grandsons — Gaetano Jr., Anthony, Michael and Joseph.
In 1976, Gaetano and Luisa opened DiNardi's pizza and restaurant in Beacon, New York — where they ran the business together for 30 years. Grandpa was "o pizzaiolo" and grandma was the master chef.
No one will ever forget grandpa Gaetano's famous pizza, known for its thin, crispy finish and incredible flavor. Gaetano took tremendous pride in his pizza and once said, "people should say WOW when they see my pizza — and that's how you know it's good."
Gaetano was an extremely hard working man and did everything possible to create a better future for his family. He loved his wife Luisa so dearly. When she passed away in 2015, a piece of him also left with her. He loved his son Dominic wholeheartedly, and he was absolutely crazy for his four grandsons.
When he wasn't busy making pizza, he loved hunting for deer and turkey with his brothers. Gaetano also loved fishing and all-things outdoors — he was a true woodsman and a passionate gardener. He planted his own tomatoes every year, along with organic peach trees, figs and grapevines.
Gaetano is survived by his brothers Antonio, Ciro and Pietro. He is predeceased by his late brother Mario and two sisters, Maria and Luisa.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday, October 18th at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.
Mass for Gaetano will be held at 10am on Thursday, October 19th at Sacred Heart church in Newburgh, followed by entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York.
