Gary P. Smith

Gary Patrick Smith Sr., born on August 25, 1963, passed away on March 8, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Born to the late John Henry Smith and Dorothy May Morrison, Gary was born in Montgomery, New York.

Gary attended Newburgh Schools and had a love for cars before driving trucks. Gary and his brother, Ron, were called the "cabbage patch kids" growing up. Gary also loved his work with Lighten Express.

Gary is survived by his companion, Carol Ayres. He is also survived by his children; Gary and Asia, with grandchildren Kasi Patrick Smith, Kodi Payton Smith, Kaci Promise Smith (deceased), and Kyri Paris Smith. Cynthia Wands and children; Mariah Hill, Jaeden Walker, Cartier McCann. Jessica and Chris and children; Cheyenne Chambers and Tristian Chambers. And Raymond Ayres.

Just like a ship that left its mooring and sailed bravely out to sea.

Someone dear to each of us has sailed away in calm serenity.

Visitation will be held at Leptondale Bible Church, 1771 Rt. 300, Newburgh, on Saturday, March 16 from 1 - 3 PM. A funeral service will take place at 3 PM.
