George Darrell Beckwith-Powell, 47, of Newburgh, NY, passed away on January 31, 2026. Born in Newburgh, George remained a lifelong resident of the city he loved. He was a proud graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and later honed his culinary skills at the Professional Culinary Academy, becoming a respected Certified Chef. Known for his exceptional cooking, George's passion for food was evident in every dish he prepared.

George was a beacon of love and support, cherished for his ability to make friends easily and maintain lasting relationships. His unwavering dedication to his family was paramount, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. George leaves behind his children, Tkyia, George, and Dahnizz Beckwith-Powell; his mother, Rose Miller, and stepfather, Milton Miller; siblings, Derek Beckwith (Michelle Powlis-Beckwith), Natasha Miller (Davidson Gabriel), and Khadrian Burke. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and other relatives who held a special place in his heart.

George was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Early and Bessie Beckwith; paternal grandmother, Dolce D. Jordan; father, Oscar J. Sanchez; brother, Donyell Beckwith Sr.; and maternal aunt, Linda Beckwith-Nelson.

Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh, New York, is assisting the family during this difficult time. George's memory will be honored in a manner befitting his generous spirit and loving nature. His legacy as a devoted father, talented chef, and caring friend will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
