Giocchino entered into rest at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, September 25, 2020. The son of the late Vincenzo and Annunziata (Argento) Cannatella, and the second of five brothers, Jack was born in the borough of Manhattan on December 5, 1938.
Jack served with the National Guard, and was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh. He married Carmen (Alvarado) Cannatella, who survives at home.
In addition to Carmen he is survived by his children, Christopher J. Cannatella, Diane M. Cannatella, Susan M. Cannatella, Michael J. Cannatella, Jacqueline N. Cannatella, and James Parrish; two brothers, Vincent Cannatella and Ronald Cannatella; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Luciano Cannatella and Anthony Cannatella, and his son, Michael J. Cannatella.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, and 4-7 p.m. on Monday, September 28 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29 at St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
