Giuseppe Gagliardo, 90, of New Windsor passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on November 16, surrounded by his entire loving family.
Giuseppe was born on September 20, 1933 at Feliciuzza Hospital in Palermo, Sicily, Italy to Francesco and Maria (DiSalvo) Gagliardo. He proudly served in the Italian Navy. In July of 1959, he married Michela DiSalvo, and together they raised four beautiful children. He loved fishing, hunting, making homemade wine, bread, and pizzas, and loved his vegetable and flower gardens. He worked for many years as a baker at Luna Baking Company in Newburgh. Giuseppe was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Circolo Cattolico Italiano, and the Hamptonburgh Rod and Gun Club.
Giuseppe is survived by his loving wife, Michela; his children, Frank Gagliardo (Angela), Leo Gagliardo (Rosella), Maurizio Gagliardo, and Maria Geraci (Gregory); his grandchildren, Giuseppe Gagliardo (Catherine), Stefano Gagliardo (Alyssa), Kayla Geraci, Jenna Geraci, Alexander Gagliardo, Isabella Gagliardo, Marcella Hardin, and Alessandra Magrino; great-grandchildren, Leo Gagliardo, Ava Gagliardo, Gaida Gagliardo, Stefano Gagliardo, Francesco Hardin, Dominic Hardin, Meadow Sabino, Diego Magrino, and Julien Magrino; brother, Francesco Gagliardo; and sister, Filippa DiSalvo. He is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Angela; and his brothers, Pietro, Pablo, Domenico, and Ignazio.
The family would like to acknowledge the devoted ICU medical team at St. Luke's Hospital for their unwavering care, professionalism, and loving support.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, November 20 from 4 - 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, November 21 at 1 PM, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.
