Gloria Lentini

June 7, 1929 ~ September 26, 2026

It is with deep sadness that the family of Gloria Raycraft Lentini announces her passing at the end of a life well lived, filled with love, laughter, and cherished friendships.

Gloria was born in Newburgh, the second daughter of the late Joseph and Julia VanDeventer Raycraft. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony, in 1975; her best friend and cherished sister, Dolly Politi; and her brother, William Raycraft.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Raycraft of Dennis, Massachusetts, and her beloved son, Anthony (Tony), and his wonderful wife, Betty, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gloria was educated in the Newburgh Public School System and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1946. She was employed by the Newburgh City School District at Newburgh Free Academy for many years.

A communicant of Saint George’s Church, Gloria was active in the Senior Girls’ Friendly Society and the Altar Guild. She also worked on the church’s food program for more than twenty years.

Gloria enjoyed a full and productive life, living with purpose, strength, and grace. She made a lasting impact on the lives of those she touched. She believed deeply in family and friendship and gave both her love and unwavering support.

Additional survivors include many nieces and nephews, among them Patricia Politi Phelan (Jack), Peter Politi (MaryAnn), and Joan Lentini DeFazio (Anthony), as well as seven special great-nephews: Ken, Jack, and Patrick Phelan, and Peter, Jason, Colin, and Nathan Politi, along with their wives and eighteen children.

Gloria loved Newburgh, her home in the Colonial Terraces on Prospect Street, her girlfriends, the Newburgh waterfront, her Saint George’s Church family, Cape Cod, Myrtle Beach, and Florida. She especially loved the casinos of Las Vegas. Having lived to the age of 97, she enjoyed a long, happy, and fulfilling retirement.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
