Helen C. Buckley 80 of Largo Florida formerly New Windsor NY passed away on October 19, 2023, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital surrounded by family.
Helen was born on September 24, 1943, in the Bronx, NY to the late Allen and Elizabeth "Lily" Magorrian (Valentine). She graduated from St. Simon Stock in the Bronx, earned her associate degree in nursing from Orange County Community College, and furthered her education earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh NY and a Master of Nursing from New School for Social Research in New York. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, John Buckley on April 24, 1965.
Helen was employed at St. Luke's Cornwall hospital as a Registered Nurse and retired as Clinical Nurse Manager in 2003. She retired to Largo Florida, but retirement only lasted 1 year and returned to her love of nursing and worked an additional 9 years as a registered nurse at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida.
Helen loved spending time with her family and friends and was always up for a get together or enjoying the simple pleasures life had to offer. She was a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her children, Colleen Ogden of Largo Florida, Eileen (Vinny) Cassissi of New Windsor NY, Christine Buckley of Newburgh NY, Kathleen (Bill) Milano of Montgomery NY, and John (Delilah) Buckley of New Windsor NY; grandchildren Dana Bedetti, Quinn Ogden, Vincent and Isabella Cassissi, Alana Matson, Michael and Tierney Bilyou, Billy and Brandon Milano; great grandchildren Vianna and Reina Bedetti, Michela Matson, Benjamin Mulè, Leila and Keira Shroat. She is also survived by her brother Vincent Magorrian of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by the love of her life John J. Buckley; her parents Allen and Elizabeth; and siblings Allen, Margaret, James and Thomas Magorrian.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 25 from 4 - 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, October 26 at 10 AM, followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
