HELEN FRANCES (ZELLER) STELLWAG

1930-2024

Helen Frances (Zeller) Stellwag of Newburgh, NY passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 at the age of 94 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.

The daughter of the late Josef and Frances (Diemer) Zeller, she was born on April 3, 1930 in the Bronx, New York.

Helen was married to Henry Stellwag for 46 years until his passing in 1997.

She was a graduate of the prestigious Hunter College High School and Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. She was a long time Newburgh resident where she raised her four children and also helped manage the family businesses, Highland Provision Co. Inc. and Stellwag & Innis. Later in life, Helen worked 20 years as a tax preparer for H&R Block. In addition to enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she also relished many hours of home improvement, gardening and landscaping at her home.

Helen is survived by four children: Gale Stellwag, Lyn Forker, Mark (Karen) Stellwag, Christopher (Patricia) Stellwag, a brother and sister-in-law Frank and Virginia Zeller of South Carolina, three grandchildren Courtney (Christopher) Moreau, Emily (Brent) Christensen and Mark (Elizabeth) Stellwag, Jr. and three great grandsons, Clayton, Callan and Weston, and several nephews.

She was predeceased by both parents, husband Henry and son-in-law Sonny Forker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.

A private graveside service for the family was held under the care of Brooks Funeral Home.
