Henry "Hank" Scheible, a life-long resident of New Windsor, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 19,2023, at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh at the age of 79 with his loving family by his side.The son of the late Otto and Loretta (Bulson) Scheible was born May 17, 1943, in Newburgh, NY. He wasone of five children. Henry graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Newburgh. After that, he decidedto travel through Europe, visiting relatives in his father's hometown of Beilstein, Germany, where hemet his wife, Helga, of 59 years. They married in Germany on September 12, 1964 and then moved toNew Windsor, NY. The family, which Henry cherished, grew to include four daughters and ninegrandchildren.His career began in Germany working as an apprentice in the meat industry for the Idler company. Afterhe returned to the states, Henry joined his father's business at Newburgh Packing Corporation, wherehe later became owner and President. He built an empire with his wife Helga by his side. NewburghPacking was well-known and respected for their Temple Hill brand hot dogs. Henry retired after 60successful years in business.Henry was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. His devotion to family and community was a corevalue throughout his entire life that passed on to his family.He took pride volunteering in many community leadership roles, including, Temple Hill School PTOPresident and New Windsor Girls Softball Coach. Other community involvement included New WindsorRotary Club, New Windsor Republican Committee, Town of New Windsor Past Planning Board Memberand Zoning Board Member. At any time, any local club or organization could count on Henry for fund-raising help, such as donations for state and local police events, boy scouts, girl scouts, food pantries,and town concerts. Hank was also a founding member of Stupido Wine Club, a bond of friendships thatlasted the rest of his years. Of his many hobbies, he truly enjoyed golfing, boating on the Hudson,traveling back to Germany and other countries with his wife and close friends, teaching hisgrandchildren to drive, and most of all, spending time surrounded by his family whom he loved and tookgreat pride in.Henry is survived by his loving wife, Helga; his daughters, Susan and husband, Anthony, of New Windsor,Karen and husband, Dan, of Washington, DC, Doreen and fiancée, Carlos, of New Windsor, and Denise ofWhite Lake, MI; nine proud grandchildren, James, Kaitlin, Brenden, Kelly, Nicholas, Shane, Aidan, Henryand Rose; his brother Walter and wife, Nancy, of Rochester, sister Anne and husband, Chuck, ofTimonium MD, and sister in law, Deborah of Warwick, along with numerous nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Loretta Scheible, and brothers Richard and Karl.
Henry's family will receive their friends on Monday, April 24 from 4pm to 7pm at Brooks Funeral Home,481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh, NY. A Catholic mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 25 at 10 am atSacred Heart Church in Newburgh. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association atalz.org in Henry's name.
