Herlinda Ruiz de Vazquez, 76, of Newburgh, NY passed away on January 6th, 2024.

Herlinda was born on March 23rd, 1947 to Isidra Hoyos Rodriguez and Ignacio Ruiz in the Mexican state of Puebla. Herlinda was married to Alvaro Vazquez Torres and the two were married for 61 years before her passing.

Herlinda was seen as the matriarch of her family. She had a big family and she always opened her doors to all her children and grandchildren. Herlinda made time for everyone and took care of her loved ones. She was an artistic and creative soul. Her favorite activities were knitting, sewing, gardening, and taking care of her birds which she had many of throughout the years. One of Herlinda's favorite traditions was knitting clothes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a big fan of word search puzzles, always having a book of them ready to play in her downtime. Herlinda loved her gardening and took pride in this. She always had vegetables and flowers growing outdoors and had a collection of plants she cared for indoors. She was known for having her collection for orchids, as they were her favorite flowering plant.

Herlinda is survived by her husband Alvaro Vazquez Torres and her 7 children: Balbina, Jesus, Margarita, Veronica, Betty, Porfirio y Araceli. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Herlinda was predeceased by her mother Isidra Hoyos Rodriguez and her father Ignacio Ruiz, her siblings Angel Ruiz Hoyos, Idelfonso Arismendy, and her grandson Jose A. Soto.

Visitation for Herlinda will be held at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh, NY on January 11th, 2024 from 4pm- 7pm. A mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh, NY on January 12th, 2024 at 10am followed by a burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, NY.

Herlinda will be deeply missed by all those she left behind. She was a strong woman and to be loved by her was a true blessing.

Herlinda nació el 23 de marzo del año 1947, hija de Isidra Hoyos Rodríguez e Ignacio Ruiz, nacida en México originaria del estado de Puebla. Herlinda estuvo casada con el señor Álvaro Vázquez Torres y estuvieron unidos en matrimonio durante 61 años hasta el día de su fallecimiento.

Herlinda fue vista como la matriarca de su familia. Tenía una familia grande y siempre estuvo dispuesta en cuidar a todos sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos siempre esperándolos con un platillo de comida. Ella hacía tiempo para todos y cuidaba de sus seres queridos. Era un alma artística y creativa. Unas de sus actividades favoritas eran tejer, costura, jardinería y cuidar a sus aves, de los cuales tuvo muchos a lo largo de los años. Una de las tradiciones de Herlinda era tejer ropa para sus nietos y bisnietos. También era una gran fanática de los acertijos de búsqueda de palabras y siempre tenía un libro con ella listo para jugar en su tiempo libre. A ella unos de sus pasatiempos era la jardinería la cual disfrutaba mucho. Siempre tuvo verduras y flores cultivadas en su jardín y tenía una colección de plantas que cuidaba en su casa. Era conocida por tener su colección de orquídeas, ya que eran unas de sus flores favoritas.

Herlinda deja su esposo Álvaro Vázquez Torres, y sus 7 hijos: Balbina, Jesús, Margarita, Veronica, Betty, Porfirio y Araceli. También deja 17 nietos y 16 bisnietos.

Se le adelantaron en la muerte su madre Isidra Hoyos Rodríguez, y su padre Ignacio Ruiz, sus hermanos Ángel Ruiz Hoyos y Idelfonso Arismendy, y su nieto Jose A. Soto.

El velorio se llevará a cabo en Brooks Funeral Home en el 481 Gidney Avenue en Newburgh, NY el Jueves 11 de Enero de 4pm- 7pm. La misa se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia de San Patricio en Newburgh NY el viernes 12 de enero a las 10 am. Siguiendo la misa, el entierro se llevará a cabo en Cedar Hill Cemetary en el 5468 Route 9W North en Newburgh, NY.

Si llevas el gusto de obsequiarle algo, a ella le gustaban mucho las flores.

Todos aquellos que dejó atrás la extrañarán. Era una mujer fuerte, amorosa y de un gran corazón. Fue una bendición convivir con ella.
