Hopeton R. Forbes

Hopeton Roy Forbes, a loving father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at the age of 89.

Affectionately known as Punch or Pops, Hopeton was born on June 15, 1936, in Manchester, Jamaica. He migrated to the United States in November 1979, where he resided in the Bronx, New York, until June 2024, when he moved in with his son Alrick and family.

Before migrating to the U.S., Hopeton worked as a farmer and butcher. He later became a dedicated employee and supervisor at a corrugated manufacturing company, where he worked for over twenty years. He also held employment as a welder. Hopeton was admired for his strong work ethic, positive outlook on life, and unwavering dedication to his family.

Hopeton was known for his strong work ethic, positive outlook on life, and his passion for sports—especially soccer. He was one of the New York Yankees' and New York Giants' biggest fans and rarely missed a game.

Hopeton's faith was an integral part of his life. He spent many hours reading his Bible and praying aloud, demonstrating a deep and abiding trust in God.

He is survived by his children: Alrick (Carla), Keresha, Dianne (Shannon), Annmarie (Winston), Lolita, and Freddie; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two siblings, Beryl and Winston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ula May; his sons, Howard and Germaine Forbes; and five siblings—Leslie, Myrtle, Daphne, Joyce, and Derrick

A visitation will be held at the Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1st, from 2:00pm ~ 5:00pm. A service will begin at 4:00pm.

Hopeton will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of faith, love, and perseverance will continue to inspire his family and friends for generations to come.
