Ida Caldwell
September 5, 1925 ~ November 28, 2023
Ida Caldwell was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 5, 1925 to Luciano and Concetta Abramo.
After growing up on 8th Avenue in Brooklyn, where her father had his barber shop, she married her
sweetheart Lawrence (Larry) Caldwell on December 26, 1944. After returning from military service,
they moved to Staten Island and enjoyed 67 years of married life while they raised their family
and built a comfortable home. After retiring, they spent their winters in Florida and summers
at Sunnyhill Resort, playing golf and enjoying their friends.
Ida was predeceased by her husband in 2011 and moved to Newburgh to be with her family.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Linda Harrison and her son-in-law John Harrison, her daughter Joan Caldwell, and grandchildren Craig Harrison and his wife Veronica, Matthew Harrison and his wife Stephanie, Kristin Harrison, Erik Mendelsohn and his wife Christina, and Steven Mendelsohn and his wife Morgan. Her eight great-grandchildren gave her many happy memories and lots of love.
Ida was surrounded by friends and family who loved and cared for her. A special thank you to Lydia for your love and prayers while caring for Ida.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, December 8 from 4 - 7 PM. A funeral home service will take place on Saturday, December 9 at 9:30 AM, followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10309
