James "Jim" Cox, of Newburgh, NY, a devoted father, brother passed away on February 9, 2026, in the Bronx, New York. He was 73 years old.
Born on January 8, 1953, in the Bronx, Jim remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life. He was a bus driver for over three decades. His commitment to public service reflected his steady character and strong work ethic.
Jim was a man of deep faith and compassion. A devout Catholic, he lived out his beliefs through tireless volunteerism and acts of kindness. He gave generously of his time at the local food pantry and extended his devotion beyond city limits by volunteering at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. His involvement with various charitable organizations was a testament to his enduring desire to help others and live a life guided by service.
An avid reader, Jim found joy and solace in books. He enjoyed immersing himself in scripture, church history, and theology with a focus on the Blessed Mother and the lives of Saints.
Jim's family was central to his life. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Trina Amendola (Tim) and Kathleen Cox; stepdaughter Christina Dunlap; sister Barbara Trupin (Warren); brother Robert Cox (Diana); and several nieces and nephews who will carry forward memories of his warmth and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon and his parents Susan and James Cox.
May James "Jim" Cox be remembered for a life marked by faith, dedication, and quiet strength. His memory will remain a source of comfort to those who knew him.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh.
A Catholic Funeral Mass honoring Jim's life will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church located at 301 Ann St Newburgh, NY 12550 at 10am.
