James P. Cunningham

James Patrick Cunningham, AKA Hambone, DJ Jimmy C, of Wallkill, passed away at home on October 7, 2024. He was 77 years old.

James was born on October 17, 1946 in Newburgh, NY to David Cunningham and Mary Knapp Cunningham. He grew up in Newburgh, attended St. Mary School, and graduated in 1966 from Newburgh Free Academy. In the early 90s he married Dorothy Miller. He was a Disc Jockey for many years in the Newburgh area. James loved being around people, loved music, known for being funny and making everyone laugh, and enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Jamie Sheeley and husband Glen, of Goshen NY; one granddaughter, Summer Sheeley; brothers: David (Carol), Paul (Paulette), Bill (Maryanne), and Mark (Kathy); many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends that he cared for deeply.

He was predeceased by his parents, David (2007) and Mary (2012)

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23 from 4 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Thursday, October 24 at 11 AM.
