The son of the late James T. and Kathryn Baker Williamson, he was born October 6, 1933 in Cornwall, New York.

He remained true to his trade throughout his life until retirement in 1999. Not only was Jim a proud Navy man and electrician, he was a faithful, lifelong New York Giants fan. Jim had a few nicknames throughout his life. While in NFA, class of 1952, he was known as Willie. As an electrician with IBEW local 631/363, he was referred to as "Big Daddy". By his family he was lovingly Dad, Poppy and Jim.
