Janet A. Bouchey
December 27, 1935 ~ October 28, 2024
Newburgh, NY
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Janet A. Bouchey, who passed away peacefully at her home in Newburgh, NY on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 88. Janet was born on December 27, 1935, in Waterford, NY, to Richard and Viola Cornetti. She lived a life marked by compassion, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her family, and community.
Janet graduated from Waterford High School in 1953 and enjoyed a successful career as a Branch Manager for the Bank of New York, where her integrity, work ethic, and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and clients. In her free time, Janet found joy in quilting, knitting, painting, and crafting, expressing her creativity in ways that brightened the lives of those around her. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her brother Richard Cornetti Jr. of Waterford, NY, and her brother Robert Cornetti (Beverly) of Roswell, GA; her beloved partner, Whitey Grogan; and her three children: David Bouchey (Becky) Sandra Waters (Michael), and Merry "Chrissy" Zapka (Lenny). Janet was a proud grandmother to Marc Presha, Michael Bouchey, Kyle Bouchey, Matthew Bouchey, Devin Zapka, and Mitchell Zapka, and a great-grandmother to Jaron Presha, Nakai Presha, and Nalani Presha. She was predeceased by her mother, Viola Cornetti; father, Richard Cornetti; and siblings David Kirker, Frances Honan, Harry Kirker, and Katherine LaBelle. Janet's legacy lives on through her loved ones, who will continue to carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.
A private memorial service will be held in the spring to celebrate Janet's life and remember the joy she brought to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Janet's honor.
