Joan P. Fletcher, of New Windsor, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. She was 77. Daughter of the late Henry and Edith (Queens) Bartal, she was born February 14, 1936 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Thomas Fletcher, who predeceased her in 2000. Joan was a self-employed hairdresser in her earlier years, then waitressed at many diners in the local area. She is survived by her granddaughter, Melissa Hughes and her husband Charles and their daughters Isabella and Hunter of Nevada; and her grandsons, Blas Barerra Jr., Zachary Barerra and Brandon Barerra. In addition to her husband Thomas, she was predeceased by two daughters, Linda Fletcher and Sharon Barerra. Visitation will be held from 12-1 pm on Monday, February 3 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A graveside service will be held following visitation at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, New Windsor.
