Joel Montalvo

December 17, 1949 ~ May 19, 2025

Joel Montalvo, 75, of Newburgh, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19th, 2025.

Born on December 17, 1949, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Joel was the beloved son of the late Francisco Montalvo and Eladia Rodriguez. He dedicated over 25 years of his career to the New York State Bridge Authority before retiring. Joel was a dedicated member of Crossroads Assembly of God of Newburgh NY.

Joel is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 35 years, Lydia Cardona-Montalvo, who will forever cherish his memory. He is also survived by his sisters, Judith Ramsey and Myrna Velazquez, and brothers, Ruben and Samuel Montalvo. He leaves behind his children Manuel Montalvo and his wife, Alexa; Nydia Cardona-Fontaine; Angel Cardona; Milagros Cardona-Shaw; Nancy Velez; and Luis Cardona. Joel was also a proud grandfather to Matthew and Michael and will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews. Joel was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Efraim, Frankie and Danny Montalvo.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2nd, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home, located at 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550. A funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM, immediately followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery located at 93 Union Ave, New Windsor, NY 12553.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the widow.
