John N. Canale

John N. Canale, beloved husband, father and Pop-Pop passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 25, 2025.

John married the love of his life Catherine on February 11, 1961, and they remained married for 63 years until her passing on March 17,2024.  In that time, they raised an amazing family of six beautiful children and 15 wonderful grandchildren. John's greatest joy in life was spending time with those he loved.  Whether gathering around the dinner table sharing stories, watching a good scary movie, or simply enjoying each other's company, his family was always at the center of his world.  Beyond family, John had a fondness for the simple pleasures in life- betting on horses, savoring a good glass of wine and indulging in his favorite pizzas.  A connoisseur of both words and wit, he enjoyed a good book as much as a good laugh, often offering a clever comment just when it was needed most.

He is survived by his six children Debbie Chianelli (Rick), Cathy McLoughlin (Peter), Jeannie Valentino, Joan Martens (John), Tom Canale and Mary Hagen (Chris) and his 15 grandchildren.  He is also survived by his two sisters MaryJane Gentile and Theresa Cacavio (John), his sisters in law Nora McCarthy and Elena Canale, his brothers in law Thomas Cawley and Martin Roche and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by many cherished family members and friends who went before him and now joins them in eternal rest.

John leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience carried on by those who remain.  He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the amazing father, grandfather and friend he was.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 29, 2025 at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave, from 4PM to 7PM. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday April 30th at 11AM.
