John J. Clark
June 3, 1952 ~ October 7, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Joseph Clark of Newburgh, NY, on October 7, 2024, at the age of 72. John was born on June 3, 1952 in Amsterdam, NY to Francis and Monica (Kennedy) Clark.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anne Clark, his two children, John Clark (Kimberly) and Mary (Katie) Sinnott (Stephen) and his five grandchildren; Cameron, Ryan, Maeve, Benjamin, and Jack and his sister Audrey Mezzio who he greatly loved and admired. He is also survived by his niece, Dana(Mezzio) Johnson and nephew Michael Mezzio.
Along with his parents, John is reunited in his passing with his brother-in-law, Michael Mezzio, his sister, Diana Powers, and sister-in-law Wendy Havey.
John had a fulfilling career at IBM in Fishkill, NY but his primary passion, outside of spending time with his family, was coaching youth sports. John was a devoted CYO basketball coach for Sacred Heart Church and a Newburgh Little League coach for over 25 years. Those who were lucky enough to meet John quickly learned that his passion was anything related to sports. He was an avid lover of the NY Giants, Yankees and Rangers and absolutely loved watching and coaching sports. He was also an official for high school football, basketball, and softball. As John's children grew older, he changed roles from being their coach to becoming an official in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association, or as he called it, his "corporation." He truly loved being involved in every game.
Earlier in his life, John was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971 where he used his hotel management degree from Paul Smith's College to run the kitchen in Fort Polk, Louisiana. After he was discharged from the military he continued his education at Suny Brookport where he meet his beloved wife Anne.
A celebration of life will be held at Brook's Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue in Newburgh, NY on October 26, 2024 from 1PM to 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newburgh Youth Goldbacks Football Association. Please use the link provided to donate : www.youthgoldbacks.org/clark
