John "Jack" Creegan

March 22, 1944 ~ December 17, 2025

John "Jack" Creegan, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 while surrounded by family. Jack was born in the Bronx to his loving parents, John Creegan Sr. and Evelyn (McBurnie) Creegan.

Jack is predeceased by his parents, John Creegan Sr. and Evelyn Creegan, his sibling Kenneth Creegan, and his wife, Milagros "Millie" Creegan.  Jack is survived by his 4 children Eileen Timmerman (Bob), Edward Creegan (Tami), Jacqueline Turenchalk (Edward), and Megan Heidemann (Gregory). He was a proud "Poppy" to 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two siblings, Eileen Moscati (Tom) and Dennis Creegan (Sue), and sister-in-law Pat Creegan.

Jack was a former resident of Washingtonville NY and a current resident of the Vineyard Commons in Highland NY. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes H.S and briefly attended Fordham University before choosing to start a family and pursue a successful career as a mainframe systems programmer. During Jack's career he worked for notable employers such as Verizon and IBM, helping to establish and operate computer systems.

Outside of work, Jack is remembered for his devotion to his community through volunteer work, donating time to The Humane Society and Meals on Wheels. He was also an avid supporter of environmental, humanitarian, and social causes through his charitable donations. Additionally, Jack was a patron of the Arts, regularly attending performances at the MET, NY Public Theatre, Roundabout Theatre, and Broadway.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed reading, walking, completing the crossword, and spending time with family. Jack would regularly organize and attend family events ,with both his traditional and chosen family, creating priceless memories. He enthusiastically supported his families interest in the arts by attending family members performances and recitals.

The family would like to give thanks to the healthcare workers who cared for Jack and provided comfort in times of need. This includes the staff of Taconic at Beacon Rehab, the compassionate nurses at St Lukes and the Kaplan House Hospice. A very special thanks is extended to his caring aides Deb, Darlene, and Kerry.

A memorial service will be held on Monday December 22nd from 2-5 pm at Brooks Funeral home, located at 481 Gidney Avenue Newburgh, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family as you make donations to World Wildlife Foundation , Sierra Club , or Doctors Without Borders .
