John D.
Horos Iii
March 4, 1952 – April 9, 2024
John D. Horos III
March 4, 1952 ~ April 9, 2024
Newburgh, NY
John David Horos passed away on April 9, 2024 at the age of 72 from pneumonia and complications from dementia.
Born in Newburgh, NY on March 4, 1952, John was the beloved son of the late John Horos II and Fermina (Horos) Orsini.
He is survived by his wife Deborah (Compoly) Horos of Newburgh, his daughter Jeanne Marie (Horos) Denizard of Weymouth, MA and her husband Gregg, his sister Mary (Horos) Williamson of Cornwall, NY and her husband John, nephew Stephen Williamson and many more nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A graduate from Cornwall Central High School, he received two associate degrees in electronics and accounting from Orange County Community College and Broward College. He worked at Triple Crown Electronics, IBM, and retired from West Point after 20 years.
Wise, caring, funny, and humble, John was a sensitive, strong and discerning man who was always ready to lend a listening ear and wore his heart on his sleeve. He loved reading, nature, watching movies, drawing, fishing, writing songs, and was always happy with a guitar in his hands. Self taught as a teenager, he was part of many bands and was inducted into the Hudson Valley Music Hall of Fame. Some of his favorite musicians were Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, the Beatles, and Elvis, and any song that had a good guitar solo. He was studying Doc Watson's guitar picking methods in his later years.
God, family, friends, and music is what he valued most and whenever you should hear a good song or a beautiful guitar solo, know that John would have enjoyed it too. He is dearly missed.
