John S. Raszcewski, JR, 84 of Newburgh was called home to God on January 15th, 2025, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
He was born in New Windsor, NY on August 16th, 1940, son of the late John S. Raszcewski and Mary Siskowsky.
He was a member of the NFA class of 1958. He attended the University of Buffalo.

John married the love of his life Patricia on April 23rd, 1966, in Glasgow MT. They lived in Sherman, Texas for a brief time before returning home to Newburgh. He proudly served in the United States Air Force - Strategic Air Command from 1963-1967 as a B-52 Counterelectronic specialist assigned to the 91st Bomb Wing Glasgow AFB, Glasgow Montana. His service during the Vietnam War saw many overseas locations, he especially, and fondly, remembered his time in Guam.

After an honorable discharge from the USAF he worked for Texas Instruments, while residing in Sherman, Texas. He returned to New York in 1968. He retired from IBM in Fishkill after 25 years, a proud member of the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed family vacations in Rhode Island and organizing trips with the VFW and Catholic War Veterans. He was a proud member of the Town of Newburgh VFW Post 1161 and the Catholic War Veterans.

John was predeceased in 2019 by his loving wife Patricia of 53 years.

John is survived by his son John S. Raszcewki III, wife, Michelle of Meriden CT, his daughter, Laura P Cobey, husband, Jim of Newburgh NY, grandchildren Garrett, Cameron, Patricia and Colin Cobey of Newburgh NY, Olivia and John David Raszcewski of Meriden, CT.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh from 4-7PM on Thursday January 23rd. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, January 24th at St. Francis of Assisi Church 145 Benkard Ave, Newburgh. Burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery in New Windsor.
