Obituary

John Robert “Jack” Kelley

Apr 14, 1962 - May 20, 2026

John Robert “Jack” Kelley, 64, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026. Born on April 14, 1962, to his loving parents, John “Jack” and Joan Kelley, he proudly carried his father's name and was a great-hearted man who loved his family deeply.

Though he lived with cerebral palsy and was unable to walk, Jack never let physical limitations deter him from living a life full of warmth and purpose. Growing up in the Hudson Valley, he was a highly motivated and active participant in the programs he attended over the years. He was a true pillar of strength, proving every day that fortitude comes from within. Any physical challenges he faced were vastly overshadowed by his vibrant spirit, the immense size of his heart, and the unwavering love he showed to everyone around him.

Following the heartbreaking early passing of his brothers—Kevin, who passed away from pneumonia in his first month of life, and Matthew, who passed away from cystic fibrosis at the age of 19—Jack stepped into the role of the eldest sibling. He carried that responsibility with immense grace, especially when it came to his cherished nieces, nephews, and their growing families.

Jack is survived by his younger brother, Joe Kelley; his middle sister, Gail Mazza, and her husband, Mark; and his youngest sister, Kimberly Ocampo, along with her fiancé, Derek Terry, whom Jack loved dearly. He was a proud uncle who leaves behind a lasting legacy of love for his nieces, nephews, and their partners: Gail’s children, Amber Clavon (and her husband John), Mark Mazza, and Anthony “Tony” Mazza; Joe’s children, Erin Kelley Perice (and her husband Anthony Perice), Kayla Brown, and Jose Kelley; and Kimberly’s sons, Kevin Kelley and John Ocampo, along with John's fiancée, Lisa Palimenteer, whom Jack also loved.

His beautiful spirit will also be remembered by his many great-nieces and great-nephews: Amber’s children, Clair Marie and Kiara Lynn; Erin’s children, Shana, Landon, Noah, and Aiden Mathew; Kayla’s daughter, Juno, as well as her nieces, Charlie Jr. and Ellie—two young children Jack loved very much and held especially close to his heart in his final days; Kevin’s daughter, Nicole Kelley; and John’s son, Shane Ocampo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" and Joan, and his brothers, Kevin and Matthew.

In loving memory of Jack and his beautiful reunion with his parents, the family finds peace in his mother Joan’s favorite prayer, Psalm 23:

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
