John J. McGuiness, Jr.

John J. McGuiness, 87, of Montgomery, NY, passed away peacefully in Newburgh, NY surrounded by family on April 3, 2024.

He was born in Newburgh in July, 1936 and was the son of the late John McGuiness, Sr. and Mary McGuiness.

John graduated from NFA, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and worked most of his life in the banking industry, retiring from Riverside Bank. He enjoyed rooting for the Yankees and Giants, watching John Wayne movies and working around the yard.

He is survived by his wife Helen, brother Joseph (Marjorie), sister Patricia Hance, daughter Karen (Mark), son John (Gail), grandchildren James, Lindsey, Wyatt and Sierra, great grandchildren Lily, Aliana, Jake and Levi, and his beloved lab Maddie.

There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 17 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church.
