John V. Pasqua
December 20, 1931 ~ April 27, 2026
John V. Pasqua, 94, of New Windsor, New York, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026. Born on December 20, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, John lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, hard work, and a passion for enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
John spent much of his career as a platform worker for Local 707 in Maspeth, Queens, New York. After retiring from this role, he later worked part-time as a produce worker at Price Chopper in Vails Gate, New York. His strong work ethic and commitment to his roles left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.
John was the beloved husband of Mildred Pasqua for 74 years and the cherished father of Patrick Pasqua (Theresa), Eleanor Doring (Anthony), Nina Denza (Victor), Loretta Moschitta (Ed), and Edward Pasqua. John’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Victor Denza Jr., Francine Vitale (Charlie), Christina Denza (Anthony), Nicholas Denza, Michael Moschitta, Brian Moschitta, Lenore Gillespie (Robert), Julia Staiano (Andrew), Justine Hurst (Walter), Dean Pasqua, Dana Pasqua, and Matthew Pasqua. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jason Rufrano (Katt), Walter Hurst Jr., Olivia Staiano, Amelia Staiano, Camryn Moschitta, Kali Moschitta, Sophia Moschitta, Madison Vitale, Kelsie Vitale, and Natalie Vitale.
John was preceded in death by his parents Pasquale and Antonia Pasqua (Sciacca); his brothers Pat Pasqua and Angelo Pasqua; his daughter-in-law Karin Pasqua; and his children John and Jacqueline.
John will be remembered for his easygoing spirit. He had a deep love for music and was particularly fond of singing Frank Sinatra songs at karaoke events. He also had a fondness for casinos, where he enjoyed trying his luck, and when he wasn’t there, he kept the excitement going with daily lotto numbers and scratch-off tickets—skills he proudly passed along to his grandchildren. This passion would coin him the nickname of "Scratchy Man". Whether soaking up the sun outdoors or unwinding on the couch with a good black-and-white film, John appreciated both life’s thrills and its quieter, simple pleasures.
John’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His love for family and ability to live life on his own terms serve as an enduring inspiration to those he leaves behind.
May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him. A Wake will be held on May 3, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave Newburgh, NY 12550. He will be laid to eternal rest on May 4, 2026 at 11:45am at Cypress Hills Cemetary 833 Jamaica Ave Brooklyn, NY 11208
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John’s name and memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for the compassionate care they provided to John.
