John Peter
Pratt
December 31, 1953 – April 12, 2014
John Peter Pratt entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 12, 2014. The son of the late James and Loretta (McEvoy) Pratt, he was born on December 31, 1953 in Bayshore, NY. Survivors include his loving wife, Anna Gadler Pratt, whom he married on September 9, 1978 at St. Augustine's Church, New City, NY; his adoring children James Pratt of Newburgh, NY , Sarah Pratt of Brooklyn, NY, and daughter Celeste Camaj and her husband Zef Camaj of Hopewell Junction, NY, along with their four children, Maximus, Emma, Ava and Augustus. He is also survived by his sisters Maryanne Pratt of Ithaca, NY and Catherine Oberlander and her husband, Kirk of Montour Falls, NY. John was a graduate of Mt. St. Mary College in Newburgh, NY, where he met his wife Anna. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Newburgh, NY. The following words were offered by those he worked for and with at The Olive Garden: "John Pratt joined the Olive Garden Family on June 21, 1993 as a Manager at our Middletown, NY restaurant. In August, 1997 he was promoted to General Manager, and last year moved to the Poughkeepsie, NY location. 21 plus years John was a great member of the Olive Garden Family. Mr. Pratt, as our managers and team members called him, was a world giver. He gave to all. From giving advice to team members, to supporting other restaurant managers, from giving his time to take children to the Vatican to learn about their faith, John loved people and loved to help anyone in need. John was loved by all." John was deeply loved by his family and he spent his life giving to, and caring for, them. John's warm smile and peaceful ways comforted and reassured his wife and children. He loved the simple joys in life, such as swimming and fishing with his children and grandchildren. "Grandpa" will be missed by all. Memories of his unconditional love will sustain us always. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday, April 15 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 16 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Newburgh.
