John V. Zbikowski of Newburgh, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on April 10, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital.
John was born on January 27, 1958 in Minneola, NY, the son of the late Louis and Eleanor (Vinskus) Zbikowski.
John was predeceased by his brother, Michael and sister-in-law, Theresa Sabota. He is survived by his wife, Barbara who was the love of his life; his son Michael (Samantha); his daughter, Krysta Hammond (Benjamin); and his 7 grandchildren; Brynn, Cora, Dax, Aspen and Brixton Zbikowski, Eleanor and Sumner Hammond; brother Raymond; in-laws Edmund Williford, Marie Rossi; niece Maea Panucci (Jon), John Sabota; and many co-workers and friends.
Throughout his life, John had been an incredibly hard worker, always working on something around his house and yard and those of friends, neighbors and family. He spent his entire career in the electrical field.
At the time of his death, he was employed by Schneider Electric, where he excelled as a Systems Engineer. John's passion, dedication and skill in and for his work brought him distinction in the field as well as great personal satisfaction and inspired those he worked with.
John's greatest pleasure, after his family and work, was to be on the water, whether on his beloved Schroon Lake, the ocean near his Florida home or poolside on the many trips that he and Barbara enjoyed together.
John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He always put the needs of others first. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall's Intensive Care Unit and 2 North for the care and compassion given to John and his family during this difficult time.
