Jorge E. "Cano" Bermudez, of Newburgh, New York, passed away on June 23, 2025, in Newburgh. He was born on October 8, 1933, in Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Jorge built a life rooted in hard work and dedication. He worked as a tractor trailer driver in New York City, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.

On June 11, 1976, Jorge married Elena Bermudez. Together they shared many years of companionship and built a loving family. Jorge is survived by his wife Elena and their children: Justino and his wife Michelle; Samara; Gabriel and his wife Jessica; Jorge Jr. and his wife Izda; and Aracelis.

He was a proud grandfather to Justino, Enrique, Benjamin, Talissa, Gavin, Lorenzo, Penelope, Thomas Jorge, Jorge, Lori, Lynna, Michael, and Michael Jr., each of whom brought joy to his life.

Jorge had a deep love for sports, especially baseball, football, and boxing, which remained lifelong passions.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 25, 2025, at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh from 4PM to 7PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday June 26, 2025, at St. Patrick's Church 55 Grand St. at 10 AM.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
