Joseph Findlay
February 10, 1940 ~ October 29, 2024
Joseph Findlay, a man of the earth and lover of life's simple joys, passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 29, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale, at the age of 84. Born on February 10, 1940, in the lush and vibrant parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Joseph's early years were steeped in the rich culture and traditions of his homeland.
Joseph's journey led him to embrace the labor of love that is farming, a vocation he pursued with dedication and pride. His hands, though weathered by time and toil, were a testament to his commitment to the land. After moving from Jamaica, he continued this noble work in the fields of Belle Glade and later in New York, where he cultivated crops with the same passion he had in his youth. His love for farming was a constant throughout his life, even after an unfortunate back injury in 1986 while in New York, which forced him to retire from the profession he so dearly loved.
Despite the challenges he faced, including the heart-wrenching loss of his beloved wife, Annie Findlay, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Joseph's spirit remained unbroken. He relocated to Florida to be closer to his nieces and nephews, who became an integral part of his life. His family was his anchor, and he leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory and the wisdom he imparted.
Joseph's interests extended beyond the fields; he had a deep appreciation for music and could often be found tapping his feet to the rhythm of a song. Wrestling captured his imagination, and he enjoyed the spectacle and athleticism of the sport. Joseph also had a gift for conversation, especially when it came to admiring and engaging with beautiful women, a testament to his friendly and loving nature.
Those who knew Joseph would describe him as a kind soul, a friendly face in the community, and a loving presence in the lives of all he met. His warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and his legacy is one of kindness and friendship.
Joseph's final resting place will be at the New Windsor Woodlawn Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his cherished Annie. Together again, they will rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived and the love of the family they both held dear.
As we bid farewell to Joseph Findlay, we celebrate the life of a man who touched the hearts of many and whose spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
His memory will be a beacon of love and kindness for generations to come.
