Obituary

Joseph Rubino, of New Windsor, a retired utility mechanic for ConEdison and an eleven year resident of the area, passed peacefully with family by his side, on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at home while listening to golden oldies music. He was 78. Son of the late Dominic and Camille (Pascale) Rubino, he was born July 25, 1934 in Queens, NY. He married Barbara Tuminaro Rubino on November 30, 1957 in Astoria, NY. Joseph attended St. Joseph's Elementary and Bryant High School in Astoria Queens. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp from 1951-53 during the Korean War, as well as the Marine Corp Reserve from 1954-59. He was a member of the New York State Fraternal Oder of Police, and enjoyed fishing, watching sports and old movies, bowling, and playing cards. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara; his children, Diana Vicari and husband Vincent of Chester, NY, Susan Ecker and husband Frank of Whitestone, NY, and Paul Rubino and wife Katrina of New Windsor, NY; grandchildren, Christopher and Justine Ecker, Amanda and Victoria Vicari, and Charles Rubino; nieces and nephews, Tazio Rubino, Mia Hollifield, and Arthur Rubino; and great-nieces. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three brothers, Alfred, Michael, and Arthur Rubino. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, February 15 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 am on Saturday, February 16 in St. Mary's Church, Washingtonville, with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. Memorial contributions on Joseph's behalf may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.
