Joseph Uszenski, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the Montgomery Nursing Home in Montgomery, New York.
Born on July 24, 1935, in Florida, New York, Joseph was the son of Walter Uszenski and Mary Sicina Uszenski. He graduated from S.S. Seward High School and began his military service in the U.S. Air Force on August 24, 1953. Over the course of a distinguished career, he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1973.
Following his military service, Joseph worked for General Electric for over 20 years and later spent 13 years in retirement working at the Newburgh Auto Auction. His dedication and work ethic were evident throughout his life.
Joseph was an avid sports enthusiast who took great joy in following his favorite teams—the New York Yankees, New York Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed playing golf during his leisure time.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leah P. Uszenski; daughter, Suellen T. Uszenski; brothers John, Walter, Daniel, Edward, and William Uszenski; and sister Pauline Headley.
Joseph is survived by his sons: Dr. Ronald T. (Heidi) Uszenski, Robert A. (Mary) Uszenski, David J. (Amber) Uszenski, Patrick D. (Ana) Uszenski, and Donald P. (Antonia) Uszenski. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Joseph Uszenski, Jackie Uszenski, Alexandra Uszenski, Chelsea Uszenski, Ronald Uszenski Jr., Donald Uszenski Jr., Maria Uszenski, Dawn Milliken, and David Milliken; as well as brother in-laws Jeffrey G. Berry and Leo Berry. Additional grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His loyal companion Duke also survives him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday September 25th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Brooks Funeral Home located at 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550.
A Mass of the Christian burial will be held at St. Mary's Parish at 10:30am on Friday September 26th located at Rt 9W, Marlboro, NY 12542
A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery located at 304 Walsh Ave, New Windsor, Ny 12553.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Joseph's Name.
Joseph's life was marked by service, dedication, and love for family and country. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
