Juana "Abuela" Linton, of Newburgh, NY entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 90 years old. She was born in Huelva, Spain on May 28, 1932, the daughter of late Pilar Ramirez-Aguilera and Francisco Ramirez. She came to the United States in 1958 as the spouse of a soldier and has been a longtime resident of the area ever since. Juana worked for Loring Coat Inc. in the city of Newburgh for over 20 years as a piece worker. She was an active member of Saint Patrick's Church in Newburgh. Juana will be remembered for her love of life and her love for her family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Juana enjoyed dancing, listening to Spanish music, watching her novellas, and playing her castanets. She was known as the Abuela to all the family and neighborhood children.
Juana is survived by her children Richard Linton and his wife Doris of TN, Molly Evans and her husband Stephen of NY, Daniel Linton and his wife Patricia of NY, and Pilar Romano of FL; her grandchildren Stephanie and Christopher David, Carla Linton and Richard Silva, Megan and Caleb Martin, Jennifer and John Whitehurst, Christina and Richard Tuttle, and Manuel Diaz; and her great grand children Chase and Cole David, Basilius Silva, Laila and Ivy Martin, Sabastian, Lana, and Aliyah Whitehurst, and Isabel and Mia Tuttle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews of Spain. Juana is predeceased by her siblings Manuel Ramirez, Paco Ramirez, and Pilar Ramirez.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, March 11 from 2 - 5 PM, with a funeral service taking place at 4 :45.
