Kathleen M. Pizzarelli, 78, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, September 4, 2026. The daughter of the late Jean (Barbour) and William McDonough, she was born on September 21, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY. She married Leonard "Lenny" Pizzarelli on July 28, 1990 in Newburgh. Lenny survives at home.

Kathleen, or Kathy, as everyone knew her, grew up in Newburgh where she lived and raised her family. She was a dedicated home health aide for most of her professional life, having settled into the profession after taking care of her ailing mother many years ago. She was fiercely devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she was very close to and who all called her Nanny. Her favorite pastime was gambling at the local casino where you would see her in her favorite chair playing the Keeno machine. She also loved listening to music, especially the 50s/60s sock hop tunes and dancing the night away with her husband Lenny.

In addition to her husband Lenny, Kathy is survived by three brothers, John McDonough and wife Joanne of Wallkill, NY, George McDonough of Little River, SC, and Thomas McDonough of New Windsor, NY; her sister, Karen Lewis of Davenport, FL; her children Christine Giaimo and partner Jennifer Lee of Newburgh, John Tabasco of Newburgh, Denise (Tabasco) DiVirgilio and husband Michael of Myrtle Beach, SC and stepson Leonard Pizzarelli and his partner Lorraine Lore of Belmar, NJ; nine grandchildren: Matthew Anthony Friedle Jr. and girlfriend Tiffany Tyree of Leland, NC, Alexa (Tabasco) Taddio and husband Jason of Fort Meade, MD, Zachary Giaimo and his wife Jennifer of Torrington, CT, Marcus Giaimo and fiancé Jacky Castellanos of Poughkeepsie, NY, Mason DiVirgilio, Maks DiVirgilio and Madden John DiVirgilio, all of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sarah Pizzarelli and fiance Tyler Alemany of Tampa, FL and Hannah Pizzarelli of Odessa, FL; six great-grandchildren: Jason Taddio, Jadelynn Taddio, Jaxon Taddio, Jerrick Taddio of Fort Mead, MD, Hudson Leonard Friedle of Leland, NC, and Leonardo Mario Giaimo of Poughkeepsie, NY. 

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her brothers William and Charles McDonough, and her sisters Joan (McDonough) Nowakowski and Elizabeth (McDonough) Rahm.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9th, from 2pm-5pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY.
