Kathryn T. Keller
March 30, 1937 ~ April 17, 2025
With heavy hearts and profound love, we share the passing of Kathryn T. Keller of Salisbury Mills, who died peacefully on April 17, 2025 from congestive heart failure. She had recently turned 88 years old.
Kathryn was born March 30, 1937 in New Windsor, New York, to Conrad and Barbara Neuner, who immigrated to the United States from Germany in the 1920s. Kathryn and her older siblings, George, Anna, and Margaret, worked alongside each other on their parent's farm, Walnut Ridge, where they tended milk cows and grew vegetables to sell in nearby Newburgh. At the age of 18, Kathryn married Michael G. Keller, whose family business, Keller's Auto Machine Shop, operated and thrived in Salisbury Mills for several generations.
Eager for a large family, Kathryn and her husband Michael raised seven children: Margaret Steidle, Michael E. Keller, Gregory Keller, Eric Keller, George Keller, Matthew Keller, and Crystal Martin. From there the family continued to grow until she had eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter by the time of her passing. She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, George Neuner, Anna Cleeves, and Margaret Baxter; husband, Michael; and son, Gregory.
Neither people nor animals were ever hungry in Kathryn's kitchen. She enjoyed cooking family dinners every Sunday as well as holidays. Even when she could no longer cook big meals, she insisted on cooking for her feral cats, who were by far the plushest in the neighborhood.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at 10 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh. Burial will follow at Saint Francis cemetery.
If you would like to perpetuate Kathryn's love of animals, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Precious Paws of New Windsor, NY, who personally helped catch, spay, and neuter dozens of cats for Kathryn.
