Kristin Elise Haas (Sisti), 58, passed in Newburgh, NY on Wednesday April 12,2023 surrounded by her immediate family.Kristin was born in Englewood, NJ on October 3, 1964 to the late JaniceShannon and Patrick Sisti. She was raised in Bergenfield, NJ alongside her older sisterKaren before moving to Manhattan where they attended St. Vincent Ferrer High School.After graduating high school Kristin, Karen, and Janice embarked on a grand tour ofEurope, continuing a lifelong love of travel.Kristin attended SUNY New Paltz where she graduated with a degree in ArtHistory. During her time in New Paltz she worked at Convenient Deli, where she wouldmeet her husband of 33 years: Gary Haas. Together they had a daughter, Shannon, anda son, Tyler. While raising her toddlers, Kristin graduated from Mount Saint MaryCollege in Newburgh, NY with a Masters Degree in Education. From there she began a24 year career in public education. Kristin served as a teacher at North MainElementary for 19 years, before transitioning to a role as a Math Specialist at Pine TreeElementary School. During this time Kristin, known as Ms. Haas to many, inspiredstudents and teachers alike with her compassionate approach to teaching. Even afterretiring she continued to tutor kids individually from the comfort of her home. Kristin wasa proud member of the New York State United Teachers for whom she was a UnionRepresentative for several years.Kristin loved to spend time traveling with her family, taking advantage of hersummer vacations to embark on epic adventures across America and throughoutEurope, as well as yearly visits to Cape Cod and Disney World. Her happy place wasIndian Lake, NY where she spent countless summers with friends and family, includingthe infamous "cousins". Kristin and her husband renovated her father's cabin into herown personal playhouse where you could find her reading on the front porch, workingon a puzzle next to the windows overlooking Lake Abanakee, or woodworking in thebasement to create bespoke bookshelves, nightstands, and more. She was also apublished author, creating a children's book which taught the principles of Euclideangeometry.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Kristin on Sunday April 16th at Brooks FuneralHome in Newburgh, NY from 1 -3 pm.
She will be remembered for her kindness, perspicacity, humor, and tenacity.
