Laura Velez

January 3, 1952 ~ September 13, 2024

Laura Velez, 72, passed away at her home in Herndon, Virginia on Friday, September 13th 2024.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, Laura attended Bushwick High School and was a graduate from the class of 1969.  She was a dedicated employee for the Mobil/Exxon Corporation for over 40 years.

Laura was preceded in death by her father Marceliano Velez, mother Laura E. Velez and brother Marceliano Velez Jr.  She is survived by her sister Nancy Soto and her husband Ediberto.  Along with their children Eric (Amanda) Soto and Amanda (Gerard) Trotta.  Laura is also survived by her sister-in-law Noelia and her daughters Betsy Jordan, Vanessa (Thomas) Finnerty and Adrianne (Edwin) Torres.  Laura is also survived by her great nieces and nephews: Ian, Lucas, Olivia, Liana, Evan, Evelyn and Emanuel who will lovingly remember her as Titi Red.  She also leaves behind many near and dear cousins who lovingly called her Mitin.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Laura on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 1-4pm at Brooks Funeral Home; 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh, NY 12550.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Marianne Cope Parish; 340 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY at 10am.  Followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery; 93 Union Ave, New Windsor, NY.
