Lewis J. Mazza "Lou" entered into rest on Friday, October 11, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 81. The son of the late Primo and Maria (Guarani) Mazza, he was born on September 17, 1932 in the Bronx NY. He married his beloved wife, Maryann, on September 13, 1952 in the Bronx. Lewis was a graduate of D'witt Clinton High School and attended Hunter College, both in the Bronx. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army from 1952-1954. Lewis retired after 38 years as a General Motors Pipe Fitter, 24 years as Front-End Manager at Shoprite, and also worked at the Newburgh Auto Auction, and the New York State Thruway as a toll collector. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Newburgh. Lewis was a happy and clever man who loved his soul mate of 61 years very much. He enjoyed watching Sunday football, working, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 61 years, Maryann Mazza; his two sons, Lewis and his wife Joyce of Conyers, GA and Michael and his wife Annamae of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughters, Patricia Watkins and her husband Greg of Deltona Fl, Tina and her companion Michael of Newburgh, Debra Martino and companion, Steve, of Newburgh and Gloria Felter and her husband, Thomas, of Kerhonkson; his sister, Gloria Bermo and her husband Antonio of New Windsor; grand children: Heather Caruso of Roseville, MI, Danielle Mann of Papillon, NE, Michael Martino, III of Newburgh, Alicia Porter of Deltona, FL, Nicole and Tommy Felter of Kerhonkson, Noelle, Michael and Massimino Mazza of Ft. Wayne, IN; great grandchildren, Brooke, Noah, and Aubrey of Roseville, MI, Colin and Conner Mann of Papillon NE; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Maria Mazza, and several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, October 17 at St. Mary's Church, Newburgh,, with burial following in Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.
