Obituary

Lewis Utley "Bud" Jordan of Newburgh, New York crossed the Great Divide on Sunday, January 27, 2019. He was predeceased by his bride, Jill A. Jordan.The son of the late Henry C. And Donna S. Jordan, he was born on September 23rd, 1943 in Newburgh and was raised in Newburgh and Rock Tavern. Bud served proudly in the United States Army. He earned an Associate's Degree from Orange County Community College. Pursuing his desire to learn, Bud began his apprenticeship in engineering and worked for IBM for over 25 years in various positions, including engineering manager. An avid outdoorsman, Bud was past President and member of the Camp Fire Club of America, and a member of the Walden Sportsman's Club, Black Rock Fish and Game Club, and the Wallkill Rod and Gun Club.Humble and proud, Bud lived a simple life and believed deeply in the Golden Rule. Bud led by example, teaching us to give of ourselves, to persevere despite the obstacles and to treat others as you would want to be treated; poignant lessons in today's world climate. Thank you, Bud, for these invaluable life lessons; you taught us all well.Survivors include his daughter, Nora Jordan; son, Dan Jordan and his wife, Vicki; grandchildren, Patrick, Alivia and Emma Jordan; sister, Judy Mirczak and her husband, Ted; nieces, Jennifer Mirczak and Heather Mirczak; close cousins, George D. Utley III and John Utley; brother-in-law, Steven Halstead and his wife, Diane; nephew, Brendan Halstead and close friends. In addition to his parents, and his bride, Bud was predeceased by his cousin, George D. Utley, II. Nora and Dan wish to acknowledge and thank those who have supported Bud throughout his journey and who have remained steadfast in their loyalty, friendship and love, for him and them. They are forever grateful.Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Friday, February 1st at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 1st at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Avenue, Newburgh. Interment with military honors will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that, for those who are able, blood donations be made to one's local blood bank as Bud required countless transfusions throughout his life. For those who are unable to make a blood donation, monetary donations may be made in Bud's memory to the National Wildlife Federation, PO Box 1583, Merrifield VA 22116-1583.
