Louise C. Grant
January 17, 1935 ~ October 30, 2025
Louise Christine Grant, 90, of New Windsor, NY, passed away on October 30, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital, with her sons by her side.
Born on January 17, 1935, in Kingston, NY, Louise was the daughter of Matilda (Madsen) and Stephen Bolash. After graduating from Kingston High School, Louise began a three-year nursing program at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Although she later transitioned from healthcare to a career as a telephone operator with the New York Telephone Company, her passion for helping others persisted throughout her lifetime. In 1967, she married John F. "Jack" Grant and devoted herself to raising their two sons as a homemaker in New Windsor.
Louise had a deep appreciation for nature and took pride in cultivating a vibrant garden filled with perennials that attracted birds and butterflies. She especially enjoyed watching Cardinals, Blue Jays, Chickadees, and Hummingbirds throughout the seasons. Her creativity extended indoors as well—she pursued arts and crafts with enthusiasm and developed a talent for painting watercolors, many of which adorned the walls of her home.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack; sisters Esther Bolash and Marion Planchock.
Louise is survived by her sons, Brian Grant of Newburgh, NY, and Andrew Grant of New Windsor, NY; her sister Helen Haines of Goshen, NY; niece Shelly Parisher of Myrtle Beach, SC; nephew Stephen Planchock and his sons Adam and Tyler Planchock of Mt. Pocono, PA; granddaughters Lucy Grant and Alice Grant of England, U.K.; along with many cousins.
Interment at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor will be on Friday January 23, 2026, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Louise's name.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
