Louise A. Reiche
July 31, 1947 ~ October 30, 2025
Louise Ann Reiche (née Policastro), age 78, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, in Newburgh, New York. Born on July 31, 1947, in Passaic, New Jersey, Lou Ann lived a life marked by resilience, creativity, and deep devotion to her family.
Louise was the beloved wife of the late Henry "Hank" Reiche and together they built a life centered around love and family. She is survived by her three children: Laura Moore, Kurt Reiche, and Christene Reiche. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Maryha Kelly, Kristin Kelly, Amanda Magill, Katelyn Moran, Alexis Woodwell, and Brooklynn Woodwell—and her great-grandchildren: Xzavier Castillo Kelly, Ry Kelly, Jeshua Castillo Kelly, Bryan Castillo Kelly, Maison Kelly, Kathryn Annagrace Curry, Edward Curry, Cooper Moran, and a soon-to-arrive baby boy in the Woodwell family.
Louise also leaves behind her loving siblings: Rachelle Nalbandian, Jane Puglisi, Don Policastro, and Arlene Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Hank; her grandson Jesse Kelly; and her brothers Joseph Policastro and Anthony Policastro.
Before Alzheimer's gradually took its toll in later years, Louise was known for her strength and independence. She had a generous spirit that found expression in countless ways—especially through baking. Her Christmas cookies were legendary among family and friends alike. Birthdays were never complete without one of her special cakes made with love for each grandchild's big day.
A talented crocheter with a heart for others, Louise often created handmade gifts for expecting friends or coworkers. Her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of baked goods prepared for every gathering or celebration. Whether it was a tray of cookies or an elaborate cake centerpiece, she brought warmth and joy to every occasion.
Louise also had a sharp mind and enjoyed challenging herself with crossword puzzles and sudoku. In quieter moments she could be found reading romance novels—her favorite way to unwind. Traveling brought her great joy as well; she especially looked forward to visiting relatives or taking annual trips to Las Vegas with her daughter.
Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her and inspiration to those who carry forward the traditions she so lovingly upheld.
