Obituary

Lucy Grace D'Amato, 75, of Newburgh, a homemaker and a long-time area resident, entered into rest on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. Daughter of the late Frank and Angelina Rometo, she was born in Middletown, NY on June 18, 1943.
She married her amazing, loving husband, Ugo D'Amato Sr. and together they shared 48 wonderful years together. Ugo Sr. predeceased Lucy.
Lucy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she lived life to the fullest. Her greatest pleasure was watching her grandsons, Frankie and Joey grow up, shoot hoops, which they loved, and become wonderful young men. She was fearless, courageous and strong-she always stood her ground. She was generous, well-meaning and loving to all around her.
Special thanks to her brother Vito, her many nieces & nephews, our wonderful friends, Bob, Lou, Judy and many others that stood by our family during her courageous battle with cancer-her illness didn't define her. Her Strength and Courage did.
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff of the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence of Newburgh-They were truly AMAZING.We loved and truly will miss our feisty-sassy Granny!
Lucy is survived by: her loving children, Frank D'Amato and his wife, Karen, and Ugo D'Amato Jr. and his wife, Lori; grandchildren, Frank Jr. and Joseph, Chris, Mike, Nick and Danielle; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held privately. Donations in Lucy's memory may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 1 Sunrise Ln, Newburgh, NY 12550.
