Margaret Dina, 87 of Newburgh, NY passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh, NY.
Margaret was born January 8, 1934 in Marlboro, NY, the daughter of the late James and Agnes DeSantis. She graduated from Marlboro High School. She was married for 66 years to her high school sweetheart, Louis Dina In 1965 she and Lou opened a family business, Lou's Market, in the Town of Newburgh, NY and worked together for 28 years. After they sold their business, she worked for many years as a Teacher's Aide in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. She loved to cook and all aspects of homemaking.
Margaret was the epitome of grace. She was most humble and freely gave respect and love to all. She was dearly loved and admired for her genuine warmth and kindness by all those who were blessed to know her.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her brother, James DeSantis, Jr. and sister, Mary Crisci. She is survived by her sisters, Toni Sarra, Harriet Farino and Anne Marie Ghiotti, her brother Louis "Butch" DeSantis, her daughter, Sondra and husband Ralph Thompson, her son, Louis Jr. and his partner Janet Torres and her granddaughter Margaret and her husband Colin Stevens. She has many loving extended family members.
The Wake will be at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh, NY on Monday, July 19th from 4:00 -7:00. Funeral for family members will be at 11:00 on Tuesday, July 20th at The Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middlehope, NY.
