Margaret (Margie) Marie Palumbo passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2021 at 67 years old. Margaret was born to Walter Hedden Sr. and Margaret Davis Hedden on March 7, 1954 in Newburgh, where she remained a lifelong resident to the area.
Margaret (Margie) was passionate about many things, especially gardening. She took pride in her beautiful flowers and vegetables that she planted and tended to every year. In her younger years she was an avid bowler who surprised everyone with her strong "backup" ball. She also loved doing puzzles along with playing word games and answering trivia questions. Margie was a history buff and you could always find her watching documentaries, unless it was football season because she loved to watch a good game. Out of her many passions, her family and grandchildren were her greatest of loves. She held a strong sense of pride and immense love for her grandchildren. She was so proud to call them hers.
Margaret (Margie) was the Produce Manager at Shoprite in Vails Gate in her younger years, a job in which she loved. She became a full-time mother, yet still found ways to work hard helping to provide for her family. She was a hands-on landlord who was known to even handle repairs herself. In addition, she had her own cleaning service, where her clients became like family. Margie was never scared to get her hands dirty and to work as hard as she could. She provided a home not only for her children and grandchildren, but to many friends along the way. Everyone knew when push came to shove they could count on her for a safe place to stay.
Margaret (Margie) leaves behind many to cherish her memory, including her only son Ralph Palumbo Sr. and wife Tara Palumbo. Her oldest daughter Nicole Palumbo and youngest daughter Audra Palumbo. Her grandchildren, Ralph Palumbo Jr., Anjalys Mercado, Killian Zayas, Aryanna Bodenhamer, and Brooklyn Palumbo. She leaves behind her loving mother Margaret Hedden along with her brother Walter Hedden Jr, and sister Millie Hedden. Her nephews Albert Ziegler and wife Luciana, Ronald Ziegler and wife Tricia along with their mother Annette Ziegler, which whom she adored, Remington Hedden and nieces Rachel Banning and Tatiana Ariola, along with many great nieces and nephews.
Margaret (Margie) was predeceased by her late father Walter Hedden Sr. and her long-time friend William Kenney, whom which she cared for, for many years.
Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh, NY 12550. Burial of ashes will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery on Rt 94 and Jackson Ave. in New Windsor, NY 12553, following a precession at 10am from Brooks Funeral Home.
