Margaret W. Rizzuto
April 21, 1939 ~ May 18, 2025
Margaret Rizzuto of New Windsor, NY entered eternal rest on May 18, 2025. She was 86 years old. Daughter of the late Campbell Nelson and Verna Mae (Burch) Nelson, she was born in Helena, Arkansas on April 21, 1939. When the family moved North, she attended Maybrook schools and graduated from Wallkill Central High School.
Margaret worked in Accounts Payable as a bookkeeper and held many office manager positions throughout her lifetime. Margaret's passion was giving back to the community. Her volunteer work included holding the position of President of the Cornwall Hospital Auxiliary and Hospice, 20 years of teaching bible study at Grace Methodist Church and a variety of other church activities. Margaret loved to travel with friends and help organize trips to Israel, California and Pennsylvania.
If you asked her what the most important thing in life was, she would say family. She took pride in being a loving wife and one of her greatest joys was becoming a mother and then grandma. She attended every academic and sport event of her grandchildren and was always ready for a "Grandma Day."
Margaret is survived by her loving daughter Fran Carton, grandchildren Ryan (Corinne) Carton and Sarah (Tony) Carton. She is also survived by her siblings Frank Nelson, Richard Nelson, Jesse Nelson, Sylvia (Ted) Holman and Aileen Isbell, as well as several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Roberto Rizzuto, parents Campbell and Verna Mae, her brother Ronald Nelson and son-in-law John Carton.
The family wishes to honor their loved one by requesting that, instead of sending flowers, you contribute time to supporting families of individuals with dementia. This can be done by volunteering for organizations that help families cope with dementia, donating to relevant charities, or simply offering your time to help a family member struggling with dementia care. They also would like to express gratitude towards Taconic Rehabilitation & Nursing Center for their unwavering dedication and exceptional care.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery located at 304 Walsh Ave, New Windsor, Ny 12553.
