April 23, 1933 ~ July 4, 2025
Newburgh, NY
Maria Giuseppina Maniscalchi, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, in Newburgh, New York. Born on April 23, 1933, in Alcamo, Sicily, Maria brought with her a rich heritage and a deep devotion to family that defined every chapter of her life.
A beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Maria was the heart of her home. She is survived by her loving husband Leonardo; her sons Damiano and his wife Christine, Gaspare, Frank and his wife Charlene; and her cherished grandsons Leo, James, and Frankie—who were the pride and joy of her life. Her extended family includes brother-in-law Enzo (Frances) Maniscalchi and sister-in-law Caterina Maniscalchi (Giovanni Corso), as well as many nieces and nephews: Peter Vaccaro, Josephine Amato, Antonino Corso, Vita Vaccaro, Daniele Corso, Anna Bonavita, Sam Amato, Lisa Cantatore, Daniela Cassar, Theresa Amato—and numerous beloved great-nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Maria was predeceased by her parents Gaspare and Francesca Coraci; her in-laws Damiano and Anna Maniscalchi; and her sisters Nina (Castrenze) Amato, Caterina (Gaspare) Vaccaro, and Maria Coraci.
A devout Catholic throughout her life, Maria's faith was a guiding light that shaped her values of compassion, generosity, and hospitality. Her home was always open, filled with the aroma of delicious Italian cooking and the joyful sounds of laughter. She had an extraordinary gift for bringing people together around the table. Whether it was a holiday feast or a casual Sunday dinner, Maria believed in the power of food to nourish both body and soul. Her philosophy was simple: the more the merrier.
An exceptional homemaker with an unmatched talent for entertaining, she created countless memories for those fortunate enough to gather in her kitchen or sit at her table. Evenings often ended with spirited games of cards surrounded by family and friends, a tradition that brought joy to all.
Maria lived each day with love at the center, love for her family above all else. She poured herself into caring for those around her with unwavering devotion. Her legacy lives on in the warmth she shared so freely and in the traditions she passed down through generations.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire love and togetherness in all their gatherings. A Wake will be held on July 7, 2025, from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on July 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, following a Graveside Service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
