Maria E. Rodriguez, affectionately known as Betty, 77, of Newburgh NY passed away on August 30, 2026.

Born on November 3, 1948 in El Progreso, Honduras, she moved to Newburgh, NY with her loving husband in the early 1970s.

Betty left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She always had a smile and took time to say hello. She loved cooking and feeding people, making jewelry, visiting her native country and the casino!!

Throughout her life she worked for manufacturing companies, she was a foster mother and a home care taker. She made many lasting friendships along the way.

Betty was loving, caring, understanding and a very forgiving person. When she set her mind on something she was determined to see it through no matter the situation. She was one to never stay mad for long and would give anything to make someone happy. She was a good listener and always gave great advice.

Betty is survived by her adoring husband of over 50 years, Rigoberto Rodriguez, daughter, Rosana Rodriguez and husband Ian J. Cozart, son, Luis A. Rodriguez and wife, Marta Rodriguez, and daughter, Elizabeth J. Rodriguez, grandchildren, Luis A. Rodriguez Platero, Kylee D. Cozart, Venture R. Cozart and Victoria E. Cozart, sister, Consuelo Irias and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre deceased by her first born daughter, mother Blanca Rosa Amaya, father Luis Alonso Irias, brothers Omar Vasquez, Ruben Irias, Miguel Irias and her sister Guadalupe Dávila.

Betty’s memory will live on by everyone who was fortunate enough to meet her.

A viewing will be held from 4-7 on September 9, 2026 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550

Funeral service will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on September 10, 2026 at 11:00am and committal will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 93 Union Avenue, New Windsor, NY 12553

Maria E. Rodriguez, cariñosamente conocida como Betty, de 77 años, de Newburgh, NY, falleció el 30 de agosto de 2026. 

Nacida el 3 de noviembre de 1948 en El Progreso, Honduras, se mudó a Newburgh, NY con su amado esposo a principios de la década de 1970. 

Betty dejó una impresión duradera en todos los que conoció. Siempre tenía una sonrisa y se tomaba el tiempo para saludar. Le encantaba cocinar y alimentar a la gente, hacer joyería, visitar su país natal y ¡el casino!

A lo largo de su vida trabajó en empresas manufactureras, fue madre de acogida y cuidadora en el hogar. Hizo muchas amistades duraderas en el camino. 

Betty era amorosa, cariñosa, comprensiva y una persona muy paciente. Cuando se proponía algo, estaba decidida a llevarlo a cabo sin importar la situación. Era de las que nunca se enojaban por mucho tiempo y daría cualquier cosa para hacer feliz a alguien. Era buena escuchando y siempre daba excelentes consejos. 

Betty deja en duelo a su adorado esposo de más de 50 años, Rigoberto Rodriguez, y a su hija, Rosana Rodriguez y su esposo Ian J. Cozart, su hijo Luis A. Rodriguez y su esposa Marta Rodriguez, y su hija Elizabeth J. Rodriguez, nietos Luis A. Rodriguez Platero, Kylee D. Cozart, Venture R. Cozart y Victoria E. Cozart, su hermana Consuelo Irias y muchos sobrinos y primos. 

La precedieron en fallecer su primera hija, su madre Blanca Rosa Amaya, su padre Luis Alonso Irias, sus hermanos Omar Vasquez, Ruben Irias, Miguel Irias y su hermana Guadalupe Dávila. 

La memoria de Betty vivirá en todos aquellos que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla.

La visita se realizará de 4 a 7 el 9 de septiembre de 2026 en Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550. 

El servicio funerario se llevará a cabo en Brooks Funeral Home el 10 de septiembre de 2026 a las 11:00 a.m. y la inhumación se realizará en Woodlawn Cemetery, 93 Union Avenue, New Windsor, NY 12553.
