Marie (Mastandrea) Petrollese of Montgomery NY, a devoted wife and cherish mother, grandmother and great grandmother, entered into rest on Saturday, April 27, 2024, less than one day after the third anniversary of the passing of her husband.
Marie was born on August 18, 1935 at home in Brooklyn, NY to Mary and John Mastandrea. She was raised in Brooklyn along with 7 siblings. Marie's older brother (Michael Mastandrea) was paratrooper and was killed on D-Day (June 6th, 1944); he was awarded a Purple Heart. Marie graduated from The Girls Commercial High School at Prospect Heights. She obtained a position on Wall St (NYC) as an Executive Assistant to the CEO of a large shipping company. She met her future husband Silverio (Frank) Petrollese in August 1957, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. They were married on November 21, 1959, in Brooklyn, NY in St. Michael's Church. Silverio and Marie settled in Brooklyn, NY where they raised their three sons, Steven, Joseph, and Michael, before moving to Orange County, NY in 1981.
Marie, very athletic in her youth, was an avid sports fan and loved to talk about her favorite teams. She served on the board Montgomery Village Senior Center where she stayed active until her early '80s. As a devoted Catholic, she was a dedicated parishioner of St. Mary's in Montgomery, NY.
Marie is predeceased by her loving husband Silverio Petrollese of 62 years. She is survived by her three sons: Steven and wife Heather Petrollese of Gardiner NY, Joseph Petrollese and partner James Davies of Wading River NY, and Michael and wife Michelle Petrollese of East Fishkill NY; her grandchildren Christopher, Kimberly, Kyle, Alexa, and Brianna Petrollese; great grandson Jackson Petrollese; two sisters, Josephine (Dolly) Scianna and Antionette Scolaro of Brooklyn NY; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving parents; brothers Michael, Ralph and John; sisters Josephine and Louise; and several brother and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to thank The Carlucci Home in Port Jervis, NY and The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY for providing quality care and support to our mom during her final weeks and days.
Visitation will be Saturday May 4, 2024 at the Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave from 9AM to 11AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's Church 89 Union Street, Montgomery at noon followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
