Marie Luciana St. Jean
March 15, 1950 ~ August 9, 2023
On August 9th, 2023 Ms. Marie Luciana St. Jean was called to the arms of her Lord at the age of 73 after a long and brave battle with Cardiac and Renal Disease.
Marie Luciana was born on March 15th, 1950, in Léog"ne, Haiti, the eldest of 6 children of whom she helped raise. As a young adult she moved to Port-au-Prince where she worked as a Laborer in a Baseball Factory. During that time, she also sold goods in local markets alongside friends and family. She later married but subsequently divorced. While living in Haiti, Luciana was known to be a kind woman with a generous loving heart with an even larger love for her faith in God. She enjoyed taking part in Church activities, spending time with family, gardening, farming, and overall, a simpler, calmer lifestyle.
In hopes of better opportunities and to start a family of her own, Marie Luciana immigrated to the United States on December 5th, 1980. She settled in Brooklyn, NY where she resided for forty-one years before moving to Washingtonville, NY in 2021. During her time in Brooklyn, Luciana worked as a Housekeeper, for several families who affectionately referred to her "Ms. Lucy", before retiring in 2015. Through the years, Marie Luciana worked diligently to provide for her only child, her family back home in Haiti, and eventually her beloved grandson, who she loved immensely.
If there is one thing Marie Luciana was known for, it was unwavering faith in God. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church while in Brooklyn. She dedicated her life to instilling Faith, kindness towards others, and a strong work ethic in not only her daughter and grandson, but to anyone fortunate to cross her path. In the last years, Luciana battled numerous hospitalizations and bouts of illness. However, despite these struggles her faith in our Heavenly Father never wavered, even in her final moments.
Marie Luciana is survived by her only child, daughter Marie Rodolphe Timé, only Grandchild, Isaiah D. Goddard, sisters Lavira Delice- Maude Jean, Augusta Delice-Attis, youngest brother Frederick Delice, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and of course, Perry, the "Doggy" as she often called him. She is predeceased by her beloved mother Lucia Delice, father Andrégène St. Jean, and her brothers Brunel and Cameron Delice.
The St. Jean and Delice Family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the outpouring of prayer, support, and love during this time as we celebrate the life, legacy, and faith of Ms. Marie Luciana St. Jean. Amen.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, August 25 from 4 - 7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. George Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 26 at 10 AM, followed by entombment at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
