Marilyn Spica (née Schmedding), aged 93, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Highland, New York. Born on April 28, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Marilyn lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to her family, community involvement, and a variety of creative pursuits.

Marilyn began her professional career as an administrative assistant at Gulf Oil in New York City. After dedicating herself to raising her five children, she returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper for O'Sheas' Sporting Goods in Emerson, New Jersey. Later in her career, she became a bank teller at PNC Bank before retiring. Her work ethic and adaptability were evident throughout her professional journey.

A devoted wife to the late James Spica, Marilyn was the loving mother of Katherine Rausenberger, Diane Scalo, James Spica, Susan Samra, and Robert Spica. She was also a proud grandmother to 17 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 23 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one granddaughter. Marilyn's family was the cornerstone of her life; she cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in their accomplishments.

Marilyn's life was enriched by her many hobbies and passions. She was an active member of the Paramus Volunteer Ambulance Corps for many years and belonged to the Twin Mothers Club of Bergen County. A talented sewist and avid baker and cook, Marilyn also enjoyed painting, ceramics, needlepoint, and other creative endeavors that brought joy to those around her.

In retirement, Marilyn and Jim relocated to Sun City in South Carolina, where they spent eight-and-a-half happy years together. Following Jim's passing, Marilyn moved back north to Highland, New York, to be closer to her family. There she continued to enjoy an active social life surrounded by friends and acquaintances who valued her warmth and companionship.

Marilyn's legacy is one of love, creativity, and service. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
